![]() historyThe Horizon Hotel (originally L'Horizon) was designed and built in 1952 by desert architect William F. Cody for oilman, Hollywood mogul and hotelier Jack Wrather and his actress wife Bonita Granville as a retreat for themselves and their friends.![]() The Horizon Hotel was the place to be seen or not. An exclusive enclave to the rich and famous, with architectural details that rival the natural surroundings, The Horizon Hotel is now restored to its original splendor, with 21st century services, all for your personal pampering and relaxation.
Whether you are a winter-weary Northerner, an Easterner tired of the rat race or a design maven from Seattle or San Diego, make a pilgrimage to this Modernist mecca and connect with the glamour of another era and the fifties' futurist vision of resort life.
Preserving The Dream
Cloaked in layers of past remodels and made fragile by the desert's harsh climate and poor maintenance, the hotel was in a very desperate condition. The current owners saw beneath the layers. The sharply angled glass corners and its low slung profiles were proof that this was a very special property. The Horizon Hotel has been nearly rebuilt from the ground up. Property in the 1970's
